Belmont / Hillsboro Village

The Belmont area is defined almost entirely by the university at its center. The neighborhood is bordered by 21st Avenue, 12th Avenue South, and Wedgewood, which is a relatively small area with a very large personality. Because of the younger demographic, you can expect some of the trendiest spots in the city right here in this small slice of music city.

Hillsboro Village’s location between two of the city’s most esteemed universities makes this a seriously trendy neighborhood with something for every possible taste. The streets are often crowded with cars and pedestrians, as various businesses that line the sidewalks have actually reached worldwide fame. We’re talking, of course, about the legendary Pancake Pantry, where people circle the block just waiting to get inside on any given day.

Along Belmont Boulevard reside several restaurants with outstanding menus and low prices. It is, after all, a college neighborhood. PM with its Asian fusion, blvd with French cuisine, and Chagos Cantina all present a diverse selection for nearly any palate. If it’s coffee you want, Bongo Java is right here in the midst of everything, with its organic, fair-trade coffee topping almost any other shop in the city.

21st Ave. S., the main thoroughfare of Hillsboro Village, features a vibrant entertainment and shopping district. An eclectic range of local boutiques, hip eateries, art galleries and the iconic Belcourt Theatre serve up shopping and culture to match the trendy nightlife and cuisine of over 25 restaurants and bars. Home to Belmont University and adjacent to Vanderbilt, the area is popular among college students and families.

Homes in the area can be a bit expensive, but for good reason. This part of Music City boasts some large single-family homes, meticulously restored cottages, four squares, Tudors, and plenty of new construction. The proximity to so many cool things make Belmont and Hillsboro Village highly sought-after neighborhoods, and the prices definitely reflect that.
