12 South

Easily one of Nashville’s most popular neighborhoods, 12South is located just south of downtown. The easy access to downtown is probably what made the area so sought after, but plenty of trendy shops and businesses have since been installed. It’s safe to say 12South is now a favorite in its own right.

Perhaps the coffee is what brings so many people to the neighborhood. With Frothy Monkey taking pride of place right in the thick of things, this could be true. Just down the street, you’ll find Portland Brew, with its delicious Ghirardelli syrups. When you need a jolt of caffeine, head straight to 12South, but be prepared to stand in line. These hotspots are hot for a reason.

The restaurant scene just keeps getting better, too. Mafiaoza’s has long been a favorite, but it’s got some competition now that Edley’s Bar-B-Que has moved in down the street. If you want craft burgers, Burger Up is waiting for you. Josephine on 12th and Urban Grub are perfect for nights out with friends, especially if you’re hoping to find an extensive wine or craft beer list.

Of course, you can also expect some top-notch shopping. MODA Boutique has some of the finest designs in the city, but don’t forget to call ahead to make an appointment. Imogene + Willie is also located here, ready to make you the most perfect pair of jeans you’ll ever own. And if you have a furry friend, stop in at Wags & Whiskers, because your pets need pampering, too.

All the homes in this area match the eclectic nature of the neighborhood. Most of your choices will be of the historic and charming variety, but plenty of new condos and new houses have been built within the last few years. What really makes the whole neighborhood so much fun is how easily you can walk from wherever you live to any of the shops and restaurants. The park that borders the far end of 12South just adds even more charm and offers a lot more fun. Doesn’t it sound like home already?
