Breweries, Distilleries, and Wineries
We’re a city that enjoys our beer and whiskey, and that shows in the number of craft breweries, distilleries, and wineries that have cropped up in recent years. Even if you just like a glass now and then, you’ll definitely appreciate the hard work and dedication that goes into each of these businesses.
Yazoo Brewery
Perhaps the oldest and best known of the craft breweries in Nashville, Yazoo blazed a trail for the rest to follow. Their beers are found in almost every restaurant and bar in the Nashville area and as far south as Birmingham, Alabama. Regular favorites include the Hefeweizen, Dos Perros, and the Pale Ale, but watch for seasonal specialties, too.
Jackalope
Just a block or so away from the granddaddy of Nashville breweries sits Jackalope, the only woman-owned brewery in town. They do a great pale ale, but the true favorite around town seems to be the Bearwalker brown ale.
Fat Bottom Brewery
Who could resist a brewery with this name? Located in East Nashville, the company focuses on bold flavors—as bold as their name suggests. Each beer is named after a pinup girl, so that’s reason enough right there to check it out.
Black Abbey Brewing Company
Relatively new to the Nashville scene, Black Abbey is already causing a stir. Their experimentation with ingredients has led to some pretty incredible results, most notably The Special, brewed in the traditional monastic style.
Tennessee Brew Works
The newest Nashville brewery has already cultivated a wide range of followers. Special brews like the Basil Ryeman keep people coming back for more, as well as the obvious dedication to quality.
Turtle Anarchy Brewing
Located in Franklin, this brewery focuses on porters and stouts, with various brews introduced on a regular basis. The experiments have produced some pretty amazing beers, like the Gingerbread Stout and the Curry Stout. Yes, curry. These guys are fearless.
Corsair Distillery
Located in the old Yazoo location, Corsair has quickly worked its way into the heart of Nashville. The craft spirits range from traditional favorites to mind-blowing creativity. Be sure to try the gin, which has been known to turn the heart of even the staunchest gin hater.
Collier and McKeel
This whiskey distillery is located in the same complex as Corsair, but the companies don’t fight over it. Instead, they sit back and enjoy the delicious Tennessee whiskey and admire the beautiful exposed brick and beams.
Arrington Vineyards
Owned by Kix Brooks of the famed Brooks & Dunn duo, Arrington Vineyards may be our best-known winery. The rolling hills and gorgeous tasting room make this the perfect afternoon out with friends and loved ones.
Long Hollow Winery
North of the city, a small winery caters to those who prefer sweet wines and dessert wines. Even the red wines will be more sweet than dry here. If you know someone who’s not really a fan of wine, this could be the perfect introduction to a whole new world.
